Roth Hydraulics promotes ideas for environmental protection

More and more ideas from the workforce relate to environmental protection and resource conservation. Roth Hydraulics in Biedenkopf takes up this idea in its ideas management and thanks its employees with bonuses that are equally focused on environmental concerns.

"We introduced the new bonus model last year. It is aimed at suggestions for ideas that relate to environmental protection - people want to work in an environmentally friendly environment, they see the issues in their daily work, submit suggestions for improvement and are willing to use their bonus for environmental protection, for example by sponsoring a flowering meadow," reports Melanie Battefeld, Project Manager at Roth Hydraulics. Some ideas have already been implemented and the motivation among colleagues is high, says the project manager. Other rewards in the catalog include Kiri climate trees, which grow quickly, absorb a lot of climate-damaging CO2 and also bloom beautifully, eco-boxes with valuable organic fruit and vegetables and vouchers for stores where you can buy food without packaging.

Double environmental benefit
Employee Sascha Burk, for example, made a valuable contribution to the new environmentally-oriented idea management approach with an idea that has just been implemented. He works in Controlling at Roth Hydraulics. His suggestion for improvement relates to a handling process in logistics that previously involved printing out packing lists for control functions. This process is now simply carried out digitally. This not only saves the company paper, toner and time, but also costs a four-figure sum per year. Sascha Burk is pleased that his resource-saving idea has also been rewarded with an "environmental gift": "The new process in our logistics protects our beautiful nature and at the same time the bonus I chose also protects the environment. This has a double benefit for our resources." Idea management is generally very important for companies, as there is potential for improvements, savings and environmental protection in all processes. Frank Fuchs, Managing Director at Roth Hydraulics, explains: "Ideas from employees cannot be valued highly enough. They understand individual work processes down to the last detail and have the knowledge to make improvements. The fact that we are now also incorporating environmental thinking into our ideas management underpins our strategic direction. Environmental protection is an important pillar of the Roth family company's corporate principles."
