For over two decades, hydraulic units from Roth Hydraulics have been reliably serving in bulk freight cars operated by a European rail company. The piston accumulators, delivered in the early 2000s, control the unloading process of the freight cars and contribute significantly to automation and efficiency in rail freight transport. Crucial to this exceptional longevity is Roth Hydraulics’ comprehensive service concept—a key factor for operational reliability, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.

The hydraulic units supplied were adapted in various configurations to meet the specific requirements of bulk material transport. Since then, several hundred of these systems have been in continuous operation—regularly maintained and inspected by Roth Hydraulics at its Eckelshausen facility.

“Our customers benefit from comprehensive service throughout the entire lifecycle of the pressure equipment,” explains Michael Panzner, head of the Services and Maintenance division at Roth Hydraulics. This includes the legally required periodic inspections in accordance with national regulations, as well as comprehensive overhauls—including documentation, leak tests, and functional tests—on in-house test benches. All wear parts are replaced, and the control system is put through its paces. The final inspection documents the system’s flawless condition.
