Industries and Markets

Heavy industry

Steel production and processing

Steel production and processing are among the oldest manufacturing processes, but still offer innovative development potential today. The efficiency of the systems can be increased by using improved forming processes and reducing cycle times, among other things. Roth hydraulic accumulators and accumulator systems can be economically adapted to the relevant requirements thanks to an innovative modular system.
Roth accumulator systems are characterized by high availability, long maintenance intervals and high efficiency. As a result, they make a decisive contribution to the economical operation of foundry systems.

Cement and mineral mills

The ever-increasing global demand for building materials, ores, coal and other materials requires high-performance grinding plants. Throughput rates of several thousand tons per hour are no longer a rarity. The continuous, 7-day-a-week operation and consistent quality of the grinding performance are essential requirements for these mills.
Roth hydraulic accumulators ensure constant grinding power and reliably protect the high-quality grinding equipment from damage caused by foreign matter. Special accumulator designs ensure high dynamics, long maintenance intervals and safe operation.

The casting technology

High demands are placed on die-cast products in terms of non-porosity, weight reduction, high strength and the greatest possible freedom of design. For the production of new magnesium and aluminum alloys and the associated new process technologies, corresponding investments were and are required.

Roth accumulator systems and pressure intensifiers provide the energy required to make these processes possible. The system is continuously ready for use, requires hardly any maintenance and is highly reproducible.

Press technology

The forming of steel or the production of wooden composite panels requires large amounts of energy, which is usually only available for a short time. In addition, hydraulic presses enable the simulation of mechanical presses for running in tools or the production of small batches.

Roth accumulator systems are characterized by an innovative modular system that enables economical scaling to the corresponding requirements. Withdrawal capacities of more than 10,000 l/min are possible thanks to the almost unlimited connection designs.

Injection molding machines and blow molding systems

The manufacture of technical plastic parts and containers involves a wide range of different materials, often in multi-layer construction, with the aim of achieving high dimensional stability and optimized diffusion resistance. The reuse of used plastics is an essential part of sustainable environmental protection.

Roth storage systems guarantee optimum extrusion of the plastics, high clamping forces and short cycle times. These are the prerequisites for high-quality products.

Industries and Markets

Energy technology

The use of energy is a key issue that will continue to be of great importance in the future. Global energy demand is currently experiencing strong growth. Securing energy requirements through new and environmentally friendly technologies also places very specific demands on hydraulic accumulators.
Roth Hydraulics products and solutions meet specific requirements such as long maintenance intervals, large temperature ranges, worldwide approvals and special monitoring sensors.

Roth accumulator systems are used in conventional power plant technology as well as in the areas of renewable energy systems and energy distribution.

Industries and Markets

Oil and Gas

In addition to renewable energies, the use of oil and gas will be essential for the foreseeable future in order to securely meet global energy requirements. These resources are crucial for a reliable and stable energy supply. Due to the specific conditions found in the reservoirs, high demands are placed on systems, machines and components. In addition, further requirements relating to operational safety and availability must be taken into account.

Onshore technology

In some cases, the extraction, production and distribution of oil and gas takes place under extreme environmental and operating conditions.

Roth accumulator systems meet these requirements, even under extreme conditions. Even at temperatures of -60 °C, they reliably provide the energy to shut down systems in a targeted and controlled manner.

Offshore and marine technology

Exploring the seabed at previously unknown depths and generating energy are technically challenging and require innovative solutions.

Roth Hydraulics offers the right solutions for this. Our company specializes in the design and production of accumulator systems, expansion joints, high-pressure vessels, pressure shock absorbers and special vessels. These are manufactured in various sizes and from different materials for use in offshore and marine technology.

Industries and Markets

Mobile hydraulics

The requirements for greater safety, improved comfort and optimized ergonomics in mobile hydraulics can be efficiently implemented through the use of compact accumulator systems.

However, due to climate change and the development of energy prices, the requirements for economical and environmentally friendly operation of mobile implements and commercial vehicles are also increasing. Reducing CO2 emissions while improving performance requires a reduction in the size of the primary drive and the use of a hybrid system. The latter is used to recuperate excess energy and supports the primary drive when maximum power is required. Modern hydraulic hybrid solutions consist of tried and tested components and are characterized by a wide operating temperature range and high power density.

Roth accumulator systems meet these requirements. They are characterized by robustness and weight optimization, enable high load cycles and offer maximum reliability and safety even at low operating temperatures. Thanks to our many years of experience in the field of storage technology, we are able to supply customized products and solutions for this specific area of application.

Customized solutions

Roth Hydraulics specializes in developing and implementing customer-specific solutions.
In cases where standard products do not represent a technological and economical solution, we develop requirement-specific and innovative solutions with the expertise of a specialist in accumulator technology in close consultation with our customers.
The focus of the solutions is always a hydraulic accumulator, for example:

  • Stainless steel accumulators

  • Spring accumulator

  • Accumulators for low-temperature applications; down to - 60°C

  • Pressure booster

  • 4-chamber piston accumulator

  • Accumulator systems

  • Hydraulic systems for freight wagons

Example: Railway hydraulics

Bulk freight wagons are used in the mass transportation of raw materials such as ore or coal. The vehicles and in particular the installed hydraulics are exposed to extreme stresses caused by vibrations, contamination and climatic conditions, among other things. Short unloading cycles and high operational reliability are necessary to ensure fast handling of the raw materials.
Roth hydraulic systems meet these requirements. They are used for the energy-autonomous opening/closing of side flaps, roofs and slides on bulk goods wagons in rail hydraulics. The systems are supplied ready for installation and essentially consist of the following components:

  • Roth wheelset pump

  • Roth piston accumulator with patented charging current cut-off

  • Hydraulic control unit

  • Hydraulic oil tank

  • Cylinders/motors for damper drive

  • Ready-to-install piping kits

A patented radio remote control is also available as an option.
