Roth Hydraulics increases vertical integration: Central quality feature remains in own hands

Extension of the honing machine to a workpiece length of ten metres offers significant benefits for large production

Roth Hydraulics has significantly expanded its capacity for the internal machining of piston accumulators. Thanks to the comprehensive modification of an existing honing machine, the company can now machine cylinder tubes with a length of up to 10 metres and a diameter of up to 560 millimetres internally. "This will strengthen our vertical integration, improve quality assurance and increase production efficiency at the same time," says Managing Director Frank Fuchs.

Previously, the maximum workpiece length was 5 metres. With the new machine configuration, Roth Hydraulics has doubled this capacity - a clear gain for customers in the field of large cylinder production and special applications.

Central quality feature remains in our own hands
Honing the inner surfaces is one of the decisive quality features in the manufacture of piston accumulators. It has a significant influence on the functionality, service life and tightness of the piston accumulator. With the expanded machine, Roth Hydraulics ensures that this sensitive process step can be carried out completely in-house - independently, quality-assured and flexibly.

More efficiency, shorter turnaround times, sustainable process
Another advantage: The honing work previously carried out externally led to long cycle times and increased transport costs. With internal processing, Roth Hydraulics is now significantly shortening throughput times - and reducing logistical costs at the same time. This conserves resources and contributes to the company's sustainability goals.

Modern control technology for maximum precision
The advanced honing machine is equipped with modern control technology that automatically recognises shape deviations such as bottlenecks and regulates the process accordingly. This ensures a uniform, high-precision inner surface - even with complex requirements.
Roth Hydraulics continues to operate a second honing machine at the site, which can be used in parallel.

Final inspection by experienced specialists
Even after machining, the quality standards remain high: the final check is carried out by trained specialists using special measuring devices and taking the component temperature into account - for absolute precision and reliable results
"With this investment, we are offering our customers significant added value and also making an important contribution to greater sustainability in our processes," emphasises Frank Fuchs.
